Prologue II
Since then, a new stream of knowledge began to flourish: Magic. There were historians spending all of their time at the ancient sites studying records, looking for the missing links that consequent in the sealing of magic from the world that we had known and the time when magic was actually being practiced openly. There was also group of people that went into research on magic itself. Subsequently, the ancient language of magic was gradually deciphered and spread throughout the world. Scholars of magic named themselves Mages and soon magic is taught as a subject in schools.
Magic was explained as a kind of energy that is constantly created by the planet itself. All the habitants of the planet interact with this energy though each individual interacts with magic to a different degree; some are able to interact strongly with the energy yet some can’t even perform simple spells. There are still a lot to be discovered as the knowledge of magic was lost for so long and the language of the ancient scripts need to be deciphered entirely before we know the true potential of magic.
Secrets about magic were slowly uncovered. The natural semi precious stones and crystals were found to contain a great amount of dormant magic energy. Mythical creatures such as griffin, unicorn and hydra that were sealed broke free to roam the world finding new abodes. Rituals and casting magic circles that has been a superstition became a greatly sought knowledge. Interests in the divination arts were rekindled; tarots, astrology, runes, and geomancy were amongst some that were studied by mages.
Yet science was not abandoned, alongside with magic, human made incredible discovery about humanity and many other things as magic provided answers and explanations to many unsolved questions. Scientists discovered the areas of the brain associated with magic that leads to a bizarre new evolution theory that humans are actually primates that lived near spots that were some sort of magic reservoirs known as ‘magic wells’. Evolution itself is now believed to be the result of constant exposure to magic. Scientists even found ways to imbue magic within machines to greatly improve the performance. Eventually, magic replaced petroleum as fuels and was also used to generate electricity.
With the newfound knowledge, men begun to rebuild what was destroyed. Slowly, former glories were revived; new cities re-established and prosper in this new world. Yet, mages are still unable to unlock all the secret arts of magic; the powers of the higher level spells are still hidden from the world as no one is capable to fully tap into the earth’s magic and not all ancient sites were uncovered. The ancient temples only provided fragments of clues to why magic was sealed from the world and the historians can only speculate; none can come out with a conclusion…
